Multiplayer PvP online is kind of a big deal these days. In the last couple of years, the genre has seen a huge surge. There are a number of genres in which an online war can take place. There are strategy games such as Clash Royale, Hearthstone card games, and Dota Underlords auto-battlers (auto-chess). Games give you the same rush, no matter what poison you contain. In short, battles that sometimes last less than five minutes, you and another player duke it out for supremacy. It’s a diverse genre, but we think we’ve found some of the best PvP multiplayer games online for Android.
Clash Royale – Free to Play
According to FourCreeds, Clash Royale is one of the largest multiplayer PvP games online. It’s a game of tower attack in which two players face off to see who can take the side of the other. Players gather different characters, create decks with them, and fight the opponent. To help swing the match, there are also different potions and spells. For a while, the game has been around and some of its players are a little burnt out. There is a strong player base, however, and plenty of updates to offer fresh content. Dota Underlords – Free to Play
Dota Underlords is a version of the Autochess game mode for Dota 2. Players collect characters, form a squad, and with other players duel it out. Each character you employ forms an alliance with other characters that you have. By stacking characters that ally with one another, you get the best teams. Ranked matchmaking, leaderboards, a spectator mode, and a seasonal rotation that sees some content leave and other content returns are all included in the game. Free Download from Play Store.
Gwent – Free to Play
Gwent is the Smartphone edition of The Witcher Series card game. It plays a lot like the version that you play in the game. Players collect cards, create decks, and duel against the specific rules of the game. The developers are trying to make talent a little more important than chance and there are many different ways to build and play your decks. The controls could be a little better, but the content is pretty good, actually, and this is a solid game, particularly for The Witcher fans. Free Download from Play Store.
Teamfight Tactics – Free to Play
Another online PvP game from Riot Games is Teamfight Tactics. We typically hate developers with double-dipping (since Runeterra’s Legends is also here), but this one is truly nice enough to be alone here. It’s an auto-battler here. Players place pieces on the board and once they win or lose, they go at it. As the match moves, players deploy and upgrade units. This one is kind of cool because it has cross-platform support for the PC version and there is not much difference between the two because the controls translate well. If you like, you can easily play on both platforms with the same profile. Free Download from Play Store.
RWBY: Amity Arena – Free to Play
RWBY: Amity Arena and RWBY Deckbuilding Game are two dueling deck games from the RWBY universe of Rooster Teeth. There is a little more action at the Amity Arena, while the RWBY Deckbuilding Game has a little more strategy. Amity Arena lets you select a hero, create a deck, and battle online against other players. The RWBY Deckbuilding Game is essentially like Hearthstone, but with characters from RWBY and a much slower style of play. Either one you should go for, but we like the Amity Arena a little better. Free Download from Play Store.
Brawl Stars – Free to Play
This freemium, another Supercell entrant, is a multiplayer mobile combat arena fighter/party brawler/shoot em ‘up that has gained a lot of attention since its release. Players are ranked based on their level and total trophies in Brawl Stars. Players select brawlers and choose one for each game to use. Winning matches gain star tokens and you can purchase big boxes with 10 of these tokens or by using gems player. Big boxes are where new brawlers, tokens, gems, trophies, and experience are unlocked by players to use or upgrade their current brawlers. Free Download from Play Store.
